I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.  This coming week will be short since there’s no school Monday and Friday we will have our field trip to the Wahiawa Long-term care.  This week’s field trip will be a good way for the kids to bring joy and laughter to the folks there.  The students will work on fun arts and crafts to bring along on the trip, as well as learning the letter “O”.

Thank you have a great day and looking forward to a fun week ahead!

Theme: Numbers, Letter O

This week’s Bible verse is: “O give thanks to the Lord; for He is good.”

Happy new year! We are excited to welcome our students back to school after our 2-week Christmas break. Please find the attached calendar for January 2012 which is available for download.

Notes to parents…

Kindergarten Information Meeting:

We offer an outstanding Kindergarten program, Mrs. Furusho will be holding a meeting for all 4′s parents. This will be a question and answer time, and she will cover the Kindergarten curriculum and timeline. January 18th at 8:15 am in the Kindergarten Class. We look forward to see what God has for us in 2012/13!

Field Trip/Community Service Project:

Wahiawa General Hospital Long Term Care Unit Friday, January 20th (time TBA): The children will visit the hospital which houses mostly seniors who are un- able to get out. We will sing several songs for them and make some cards and pictures to hand out. Many children are not exposed to the elderly and this is a great opportunity to bless others. We will be asking for only a few volunteers, so please watch for the sign up sheet.

It is time for Fall Enrollment:

There will be sign up sheets for those who will be joining us next year, and also to indicate if you will be moving on.

The Kindergarten class decorated a birthday cake for Jesus.

Dress rehearsal for the Christmas Program.

Kindergarteners are gaining experience in the kitchen at Central Christian School!

This year, Central Christian School will be participating in Shoeboxes for the Homeless.

This is an opportunity for us to bless families in our local community by filling shoeboxes with various supplies and surprises.

Items can include:

  • Toiletries such as: soap, shampoo, wipes, toothpaste, toothbrush, and deodorant
  • School supplies such as: notebook paper, pencils, pens, notebooks, folders, crayons, markers, glue sticks, scissors
  • Undergarments (list gender and size on box)
  • Small toys
  • Blankets, etc.
  • Dry snacks like: trail mix, granola bars, crackers, etc.

We will have shoeboxes available for families to pick up starting on Monday, November 28th.

These will be on the lanai.  Select the perfect one for your family to fill.

Decide on your recipient. Indicate on the outside of the box. Categories:

  • Boy or Girl / sizes or ages if available
  • Adult Man or Woman
  • Or… perhaps, “Family” if you are sending general toiletries and snack items

Then begin filling!

Collection day will be on Friday, December 9th. Please have your child bring his/her shoebox to class that morning. Students will be presenting their shoeboxes by classrooms during chapel.

Each year, the school provides empty goody bags for every child in the school just before Christmas break and at the end of the school year.

These bags will be set out on the lanai during this week before each break. As parents wish, they may make contributions for each child in their child’s class.  Please stay away from food items. We encourage items such as pencils, crayons, bubbles, stickers, etc. Please be considerate of those with younger siblings. After the Christmas Celebration Potluck, each student will be able to take his/her goodie bag home filled with treats from all their classmates.  Contributing to the goody bags is optional.

Goody bags will be set up starting on Tuesday, December 13th.
