This week we will be celebrating Valentines Day! It’s going to be a really fun week; we will also wrap up our friends and culture theme. On Tuesday we will have a fun school-wide celebration, if the children want to bring treats and cards that is completely encouraged just keep in mind that we are a peanut-free school.

Our day will consist of an arts and craft in my class, a fun game/ activity in Ms.Victorino’s class, a cooking project in Mrs. Furusho’s class and a reading time with Ms. Marzan, we will also have fun outdoor games in our playground.

For Friday as we have a multi-cultural party, Mrs. Baker will bring in a Japanese treat and I will bring a Dominican treat for the kids to learn a little bit about the different cultures, I’m leaving it open to the parents if you would like to contribute that would be awesome but its not required especially because its just going to be for the class. Any questions please feel free to reply to this message or pull me aside when you see me.

Letter of the week is “R” and the Bible verse is, “Remember the Sabbath day; to keep it holy.”

As I mentioned previously, this second semester we will be focusing more on academics, and starting this week each child will be given a homework folder with the week’s assignment in it.  They are to bring the homework folder back on Friday.  The assignments will be very simple but just a reinforcement of the week’s lesson.

This week will be letter Nn week, so for Friday’s share day please have them bring an item the begins with the letter Nn.

Happy new year! We are excited to welcome our students back to school after our 2-week Christmas break. Please find the attached calendar for January 2012 which is available for download.

Notes to parents…

Kindergarten Information Meeting:

We offer an outstanding Kindergarten program, Mrs. Furusho will be holding a meeting for all 4′s parents. This will be a question and answer time, and she will cover the Kindergarten curriculum and timeline. January 18th at 8:15 am in the Kindergarten Class. We look forward to see what God has for us in 2012/13!

Field Trip/Community Service Project:

Wahiawa General Hospital Long Term Care Unit Friday, January 20th (time TBA): The children will visit the hospital which houses mostly seniors who are un- able to get out. We will sing several songs for them and make some cards and pictures to hand out. Many children are not exposed to the elderly and this is a great opportunity to bless others. We will be asking for only a few volunteers, so please watch for the sign up sheet.

It is time for Fall Enrollment:

There will be sign up sheets for those who will be joining us next year, and also to indicate if you will be moving on.

I hope you had a wonderful Holiday season; I’m incredibly excited for this New Year.

Since by now the children are used to the classroom setting; this second semester we will be focusing more on academics, the children will continue to use their imagination and have a lot of fun while learning.  Again thank you so much for everything I can’t wait to see everyone on Tuesday.

This week will be a review week.  It’s been a while since they’ve been in school so it’ll be a good way to ease them back into school mode.  Also, on Thursday we will join up with the Kindergarten class and have a Hawaiian style in-school snow-day.  The children are to come in their pajamas.  We will have a lot of fun as well as watch a short animated film.

Theme: Numbers, Review

Bible verse: “Be joyful always.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16
